Day 55 – It Getting Hot In Here

By Jon in : News // Jun 25 2011

Usual day off really, doing back-ups of data, sorting the RV out and doing laundry.

Rotten clothes

There was one major issue. We have obviously been having a leak from the sink in the kitchen as it has now rotted down through a cupboard wall and through 4 of my good shirts and also moulded up my Christmas present from Jen. I was furious and have been trying to get the stains out of all my clothes since. I Spoke to El Monte about this and it is proving quite difficult to try and get everything sorted as we are constantly on the move. El Monte are going to see what they can do but I feel a long conversation going on when I take this RV back.

The Heat

I have only really realised how hot it is today. Due to me getting up later and walking out into the midday sun it was sweltering. No hotter in reality to yesterday but not having the time to acclimatise means you feel it a lot more. Not that much fun sitting in the RV in this heat even with the Air Con on.

Santa Fe

My next week takes us out of Texas and into New Mexico. We will be stopping next week in Santa Fe. A great city that has an abundance of history and some pretty amazing people along with it’s architecture. I can’t wait to get there and see my friends Dan, Tom, Wes, Sandy among numerous others I have met before on family visits to my Mum and Step-Dads house out there. I was last there in the winter and went snowboarding at Ski Santa Fe. So I think things might be a little different in this heat. It is funny that I have followed the train line of the BNSF all the way from Chicago and will be going to it’s destination of Santa Fe.

Sounds like you are going to get to Santa Monica in one piece and the RV is going to have shaken itself to pieces! Frankly I’m amazed it hasn’t fallen apart already. It was dropping to bits as far back as Pennsylvania. Has the microwave come completely out of the wall yet? If a water pipe has cracked through vibration you’d better keep an eye, or nostril, out for the gas pipes!
Wish I was still on board though. Amazing job you’re doing Mr Beebs. Look after yourself.
